Speciality Ice Cream Bar to open on two Norwegian ships

The new “Ice Cream Bar” concept will be available on two of Norwegian’s ships: Breakaway and Getaway.

Holidaymakers with a sweet tooth will enjoy sampling indulgent treats on new ship Breakaway and soon-to-be-launched ship Getaway.

The bustling menu will be full of classic ice cream parlour creations to try: from ice cream floats to milkshakes; malted shakes to egg creams and plenty more besides. The ice cream sundaes are a sure favourite, with flavours such as Hot Fudge, Hot Caramel, Peach Melba and Banana Split! Yum yum!

The ‘signature item’ available at the Ice Cream Bar is the “Breakaway/Getaway Sundae.” This is an enormous indulgent concoction, designed to be shared between three to four guests. It contains nine generous scoops of ice-cream and is topped with “everything but the kitchen sink”, from Oreos to gummy bears; almonds to fudge sauce; chocolate sprinkles to raspberry sauce; whipped cream and cherries, and plenty more besides. Delicious!

The Ice Cream Bar will be available onboard Breakaway’s seven-day Bermuda or Bahamas and Florida Cruises, which sail from New York City. The Ice Cream Bar will also be available for guests booking seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailings onboard Norwegian Getaway after her launch in January 2014.

Speaking about the wonderful new Ice Cream Bar concept, Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer said:

“We’ve recreated a classic ice cream parlor on Norwegian Breakaway adding yet another exciting innovation to our newest ship. The launch of the Ice Cream Bar on board has been extremely well received and we look forward to debuting it on Norwegian Getaway in February 2014. Our guests are delighted by the variety of ice cream creations, especially the runaway fan favorite, the Breakaway Sundae.”

The company has recently launched new ship Norwegian Breakaway (April 2013). Their other new ship “Norwegian Getaway” will launch in January 2014. Meanwhile, it has just been confirmed that a further two “Breakaway Plus” ships will join the fleet in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
