P&O Introduces Drink Package to Australian Fleet

P&O Cruises Australia has, this week, announced plans to introduce a new alcoholic drink package to its five-ship fleet, with the latest booze offering currently being trialled aboard the popular Pacific Pearl, as it sails from its homeport of Sydney to the idyllic Loyalty Islands of the Pacific.

Labelled ‘Premium Beverage’, the package is reputed to cost AUS$69 per day, and covers beer, wine and spirits up to the value of AUS$12, as well as soft drinks, bottled water and tea and coffee.

At this stage, it’s expected that the drink package will be exclusively available aboard P&O ships sailing for 7 nights or longer, with shorter sailings continuing with the conventional pay-as-you-drink service. P&O has also stressed that the drink package is non-transferable, and can only be used to order one drink at a time.

Speaking during a recent interview, a spokesperson from P&O Cruises Australia said: “P&O Cruises has taken great care in developing the package as a convenient option for guests and is confident that the trial will be successful, with fine-tuning able to be made as necessary.”

They went on to add that the drink package was introduced “in line with the growing quality and sophistication of the cruise product” — demonstrating P&O Cruises Australia’s commitment to offering the very best cruise holidays in Australian waters.

The introduction of the alcoholic drink package follows the integration of a similar soft drink-only package rolled out across the P&O fleet in July. So far, the soft drink package has proved extremely popular, prompting the cruise line to introduce a similarly convenient service for alcoholic beverages.

Whilst the ‘Premium Beverage’ package is currently only available aboard Pacific Pearl, it’s highly likely the package will be rolled out across the entire P&O Cruises Australia fleet — including Pacific Jewel, Pacific Dawn and new vessels, Pacific Aria & Eden.
