P&O Celebrates Australia Day At Sea and On Land

Next week, P&O Cruises Australia will host bumper celebrations in honour of Australia Day 2016 — with four of its ships heading to Sydney for the occasion and a host of events, activities and attractions planned both at sea and on dry land.

As part of its special Australia Day celebrations, new P&O ships Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden will join veteran vessels Pacific Pearl and Pacific in Sydney Harbour — accommodating some 6,500 passengers during the celebrations. This marks the first time P&O — or any cruise line, for that matter — has hosted four of its ships in Sydney during Australia Day, and the occasion promises to be a memorable one for all those in attendance.

Meanwhile, on dry land, P&O Cruises Australia has teamed up with the Museum of Sydney to help the Australia Day celebrations go off in fine style. As part of the partnership, the museum will play host to a giant LEGO exhibition, whereby the public can help Ryan NcNaught, a certified LEGO specialist, build a huge model of Pacific Eden in the forecourt of the museum. The event will take place from 9am to 3pm on January 26, and everyone is welcome to turn up and help McNaught in his Australia Day efforts.

Sture Myrmell, president and CEO of P&O Cruises Australia, said: “As part of our partnership with LEGO, the kids’ clubs on all our ships feature a range of fantastic LEGO activities which our guests love, so it’s very exciting to be able to bring the action to land for Australia Day with this special chance to make an amazing ship model with Ryan.

“We’re also delighted that P&O’s Pacific Aria is part of the Sydney Harbour Icons with LEGO Bricks exhibition at the Museum of Sydney. Sydney remains one of the most popular destinations in the world for cruise ships and it’s great to see cruising recognised as part of the action and beauty of our harbour in this stunning exhibition.”
