Curtis Stone’s SHARE Makes Debut Aboard Ruby Princess

Princess Cruises has celebrated the opening of SHARE by Curtis Stone aboard its Aussie-based ship, Ruby Princess, this week — heralding the start of the line’s relationship with the popular celebrity chef.

Having first conceived the SHARE concept back in August 2015, Ruby Princess underwent major development works during a recent dry dock, including the construction and implementation of chef Stone’s new on-board dining experience, and a range of other entertainment and dining updates.

SHARE — which replaces Princess’ traditional Italian restaurant, Sabitini’s, aboard Ruby Princess — is similar in its aesthetic design to Stone’s Beverley Hills eatery, Maude, as well as the backdrop to the chef’s popular TV show broadcast on the Food Network.

The restaurant specialises in inventive, high-quality food that is meant for sharing — a concept Stone created himself based on his experiences of eating meals around a big, communal table as a youngster.

According to Princess Cruises, SHARE “offers an exclusive specialty cruise dining experience for guests with a menu of signature dishes imagined for sharing, in an environment designed for conversing and creating memories.

“The SHARE dining experience encourages connecting with family, friends and other cruisers by offering intriguing dishes served family style. Designed by Chef Stone, the menu features dishes such as a Charcuterie starter course; Butter Poached Lobster with Caramelized Endive; Twice Cooked Duck Leg with Fennel, Bacon jus and Parmesan Crumb; Tagliatelle with Roasted Alaskan Crab, Chili and Parsley; and Potato Gratin with Truffles and Cream.”

While special ‘Crafted by Curtis’ dishes are available across the Princess fleet, the SHARE dining concept will only be available on two Princess vessels, Ruby and Emerald Princess. This could change in the future, however, given that Princess are in the process of phasing out the Sabinini’s chain across its global fleet.

Asked about his new SHARE restaurant, Stone said: “I’m incredibly proud of SHARE. We’ve had a lot of time to prepare and be creative, and Princess has been the ultimate partner to work in helping us bring this exciting new restaurant offering to fruition. My Corporate Chef, Christian Dortch, who worked closely with me at my restaurant in Los Angeles, is now cooking and managing the SHARE kitchens onboard various ships, so I have an amazingly talented and passionate team that extends from land to sea.”
