A musical cruise, packed with music stars from the swingin’ sixties is set to return to Australia in 2016. Rock the Boat returns for a seven-night cruise from Sunday 6 November, sailing from Brisbane and treating guests to some of the 1960s most influential and celebrated music stars.

Peter Noone, frontman with Herman’s Hermits will perform alongside The Troggs, The Pacemakers and more during the week-long cruise. The cruise features Rock the Boat’s most diverse and impressive line-up to date with more than ten international headliners. The entire event will be curated by Glenn A. Baker – best known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of rock music and exhaustive bibliography on the subject.

In anticipation of the forthcoming event, Baker enthused: “I can’t wait to get on board. From a dyed-in-the-wool rock fan’s perspective it really doesn’t get much better than this. Not only are they some of the truly pivotal acts of their era, but they’re also some of the most enduring. Their infectious music and the movement they were at the centre of, shaped the face of popular culture for decades.”

Setting sail from Brisbane, the cruise will also take in a number of the beautiful islands of the South Pacific, visiting the ports of Lifou, The Loyalty Islands and The Isle of Pines of New Caledonia. The latter has been nicknamed ‘l’île la plus proche du paradis’ – the closest island to paradise.

The cruise is being held on the Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas and the ship will feature entertainment in a series of on-board venues including the Schooner Bar, Anchors Aweigh Lounge, That’s Entertainment Theatre and Centrum – meaning music-lovers will have plenty of choices where to party.

Alongside live performances, guests can also enjoy Rock n Roll dancing lessons to help dust the cobwebs off the old blue suede shoes.
