Who says all cruise ships need to be huge to be enjoyable? For a more intimate, relaxed cruise, look no further than ms Volendam, which visits a number of fascinating tourist destinations this year.

You can find all the latest deals on our Volendam cruise deals page – or read on to find out what this ship is all about.

About ms Volendam

Volendam is one of Holland America Lines’ R-Class cruise ships – spacious, medium-sized ships with plenty of character. This ship consists of 10 decks and carries around 1,430 passengers and 650 crew. There’s a beautiful garden theme throughout the ship, with fresh flowers at every turn and floral fabrics and tapestries adding to the delightful decor.

You’ll find plenty here to keep you occupied. The Crow’s Nest provides 270 degree views of the ocean during the day, and turns into a vibrant nightclub during the night.

The Frans Hal Show Lounge is host to a wide range of shows from talented comedians, singers, dancers, illusionists and other acts.

The Digital Workshop offers free computer workshops where guests can learn to share their memories through email, blogging and social networking.

The Greenhouse Spa and Salon is a great place to relax, with a variety of health and beauty treatments to enjoy – massages, facials, steam rooms, hair and nail treatments and more.

And The Culinary Arts Centre features a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen where you’ll be shown how to cook a range of gourmet dishes by expert chefs.

Dining on ms Volendam

There are plenty of dining options on this ship, catering for all tastes. The Rotterdam Dining Room features five course menus and impeccable service, with an extensive wine list available. The Pinnacle Grill is an intimately-set, reservation only venue providing a sophisticated experience. Canaletto Restaurant provides fine Italian dining, while the Lido Restaurant offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Staterooms

Whatever kind of room you choose, you’ll be impressed with the spacious surroundings and fine decor, not to mention the amenities: luxury bedding, bath soaps and lotions, complimentary fresh fruit, flat screen TV and DVD player all come as standard.

The interior staterooms are the most basic, but still provide very comfortable living conditions. Ocean view staterooms are similar, but come with a window looking out to sea.

Vista Suites are more spacious and come with your own private balcony, as well as a mini-bar and oversized bath towels, plus other improved amenities.

And the Neptune Suites are the very best rooms on board, with much more living space and a range of exclusive amenities like exclusive access to the Neptune Lounge, complimentary laundry service, priority boarding & departure and much more.
