Queen Mary 2 takes another trip round Australia in 2014

Queen Mary 2, one of the most elegant ocean liners ever built, took its first full circuit around Australia this year, and Cunard have been overwhelmed by the response.  So much so that they are arranging another trip in February 2014!

It will take 33 days for the Queen Mary 2 to complete a full circuit as it calls in at eight different ports.  Cruisers can join the ship for a complete circumnavigation of Australia from either Sydney (19 February – 14 March), Melbourne (17 February  – 12 March), Fremantle (12 February – 6 March) or Brisbane (21 February – 16 March) as all these ports will get two visits from the flagship liner.  They will also call in at the Whitsundays on 23 February, Darwin on 27 February, Bali on 2 March and Adelaide on 10 March.

Pre-registrations opened on 7 August and it was soon clear how much interest there was in the cruise.

“When we announced Queen Mary 2’s first circumnavigation back in 2010 we had a record number of bookings made within the first day.  Cunard bookings from Australia surged again when she undertook the historic voyage earlier this year.  Australians have an affinity with Cunard’s liners and they clearly love the wonderful blend of heritage and modernity that we offer, so we believe Queen Mary 2’s second circumnavigation will be just as popular as the first.”

Peter Shanks, Cunards’ President and MD of Cunard

Queen Mary 2 has all the modern luxuries and facilities you could expect, but retains that timeless elegance of the Golden Age of ocean travel.  With its incredible Grand Lobby, opulent public areas, ballrooms, theatres and even a Planetarium, it truly is the most magnificent luxury ocean liner ever built.  It has 14 decks for relaxation and taking the chance to unwind, and also to take the opportunity to do all those things you normally don’t have time to do.

The accommodation on board has to be the most sumptuous of any cruise ship.  Full sized beds, sofas and a welcome of French champagne and sugar-iced strawberries gives you a hint as to what you can expect on-board.  Guests lucky enough to occupy the suite accommodation have the services of a personal butler for the cruise including the packing and unpacking.  Before taking up a reserved table in the Queen’s restaurant you might want to indulge in a real Afternoon Tea served by white-gloved waiters and take a wander around the Mayfair Shops and boutiques on board.

Full details of Cunard’s 2014 World Voyages program was released on 20 August 2012.

We are looking to go on the cruise around Australia in 2014. However as this is our cyclone season can you please advise us what precautions are taken if a cyclone is forecast.
Thank you.

Hi Trish,

Thanks for your question, the cruise lines are always monitoring the situation with regards to all weather types. If a cyclone was forecast the cruise line would either change the itinerary or cancel the cruise and offer an alternative usually.

Hope this helps

Hi Del, I’m sure there are cruise lines doing this for example Cunard’s QM2 and you could also do a back to back cruise with Celebrity of Royal, take a look at http://www.cruise1st.com.au to check your date out.
