Norwegian Getaway cruise ship guide

What says “get away from it all” better than a ship called Norwegian Getaway? This brand new, modern, stylish cruise ship will be visiting the Caribbean this year – check out our Norwegian Getaway cruise deals page for more information.

About Norwegian Getaway

Norwegian Getaway is the sister ship of Norwegian Breakaway, another ship renowned for its style and fantastic range of amenities. After entering service for the first time this year, the ship is scheduled to visit a number of beautiful destinations around the Caribbean in 2014 and beyond.

The exterior of the ship is the first thing that will strike you, with a giant mural across the front designed by David Le Batard. And it gets better from there on – with pristine decor and a huge range of activities available on board.

Entertainment includes the Illusionarium, where guests can enjoy a variety of magic and illusion shows. There’s also a 30ft-high video dome in the middle, adding to the ambience of the performance area. There’s a water park with five slides, which includes one freefall drop.

Norwegian Cruise Line recently became the ‘Official Cruise Line of the Grammy Awards’, paving the way for the on-board Grammy entertainment venue.

There’s even a fireworks display at sea at the end of each cruise: definitely a sign of a ship that takes its entertainment very seriously!

Of course, it’s not all about entertainment – you’ll have plenty of time to relax, too. The spa offers more than 50 health and beauty treatments, including facials, hot stone massages, acupuncture and more. There’s also a fitness centre with weights and cardio equipment to stay in shape during your time on board.

Speaking of which, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants. Options include The Tropicana Room, the main dining room serving a variety of dishes; Flamingo Bar & Grill, ideal for a quick bite to eat; Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian, with its excellent seafood; Le Bistro French restaurant; Cagney’s Steakhouse, and many more. Never eat the same meal twice (although you might want to)!

Accommodation on Norwegian Getaway

There’s a huge range of staterooms to choose from on Norwegian Getaway. Solo travellers will enjoy the Studio Staterooms, which also come with exclusive access to the Studio Lounge (so you can meet fellow lone travellers).

There’s also the Inside Staterooms, a basic option with no sea view for those on a tighter budget. The Ocean View rooms are similar, but with a window looking across the ocean.

There are also Balcony Staterooms with a private balcony, Spa rooms located near the on-board spa facilities, Suites for a more luxurious stay and Penthouse rooms for a truly high-class experience.

No matter what room you choose, you’ll enjoy modern decor and comfortable surroundings.
