Geoffrey Zakarian will be onboard Norwegian Breakaway later this year

Celebrity “Iron Chef” Geoffrey Zakarian will host a number of activities onboard Norwegian Breakaway during three sailings between Nov – Dec 2013.

Iron chef  Geoffrey Zakarian will be onboard Norwegian Breakaway between 7-10th November and 5-8th December 2013, where he’ll offer guests a range of unique, interactive activities to take part in. This will include:

  • An exciting meet and greet session, complete with photo opportunity,
  • Dynamic cooking demonstrations,
  • Personalised book signing,
  • Opportunity to attend intimate dining experience at restaurant “Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian”.

During the intimate dining experience, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a specially curated Ocean Blue tasting menu. The dishes will be served by the Iron Chef himself!

Zakarian’s Restaurants onboard Breakaway:

Earlier this year, Geoffrey Zakarian launched three brand new restaurants onboard new ship Breakaway, each centred around seafood:

  • Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian – an elegant seafood dining experience, with a focus on quality ingredients and expert culinary techniques.
  • The Raw Bar – focused on crustaceans, curds, cocktails and wines by the glass.
  • Ocean Blue on The Waterfront – a more casual dining option focussed on fun and easy fare.

All three venues feature only the freshest ingredients and finest techniques that Zakarian is famed for.

The Iron Chef has coordinated every single element of the restaurant himself – from menus to uniforms, from glassware to utensils.

It’s already been confirmed that Ocean Blue will also be onboard Norwegian’s ship Getaway, Breakaway’s sister ship that launches next year.

About Geoffrey Zakarian:

The chef is famed for his taste, style and passion for fine cuisine. His career has spanned over 25 years – he is an accomplished chef who has had the opportunity to work in a number of the USA’s top kitchens.

Zakarian currently owns two popular restaurants located in New York City, called The National and The Lambs Club, and another in Atlantic City called The Water Club at Borgata.  The chef also has a highly acclaimed cookbook named “Geoffrey Zakarian’s Town/County: 150 Recipes for Life Around the Table.”

The famous chef currently appears on Iron Chef America, demonstrating his wide knowledge of culinary techniques in the fast paced competition.  Zakarian is also known for being a judge on TV show CHOPPED and appearing on the popular show, The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

About Norwegian Breakaway:

Norwegian Breakaway is Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, it launched on the 30th April 2013.

The 146,600 GT 4,000 passenger ship is home-ported at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal in Manhattan.  The ship embraces its home city with New York themed hull artwork painted by pop icon and America’s most popular living artist, Peter Max.

The ship is currently the world’s fifth largest cruise ship.  Breakaway’s sister ship “Getaway” will launch in 2014.  The company has also recently ordered two new “Breakaway Plus” ships, that will be 10% larger than both Breakaway and Getaway.  They will be delivered in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
