Crystal Cruises are first line to offer allergy-friendly staterooms (and at no extra cost!)

Ultra-luxe line Crystal Cruises will offer 70 hypoallergenic staterooms onboard Crystal Serenity. The line has named these new rooms “Deluxe PURE Staterooms.”

The news will no doubt excite cruise enthusiasts with respiratory problems. According to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation in America, 1 in 5 Americans suffer from allergies, while the World Health Organisation predict 235 million people world wide suffer from asthma.

Crystal have partnered with PURE Marine Solutions, sister company to allergy-friendly hospitality innovator “PURE Global.” The company will assist Crystal to transform 70 of Serenity’s rooms into a safe and healthy environment for allergy sufferers, using the world’s only hypoallergenic process that’s protected by a patent!

The transformation will take place later this year, when Serenity is in dry-dock, having her “Extreme Makeover.”

Each of Serenity’s 70 “AA” verandah rooms will be given the PURE treatment – a seven-step air and surface purification process that removes a range of allergens and reduces the risk of common irritants.

The rooms will also be installed with state-of-the-art medical grade air purifiers that will continue to filter out 99% of impurities and dust from the room.

Usually, PURE rooms are sold at a premium in luxury hotels and properties back on shore. However, Crystal have decided to offer their Deluxe PURE Staterooms at no additional cost.

Jack Anderson, Crystal’s senior vice president, marketing & sales spoke ahead of the announcement:

“Imagine returning to your room after a full day ashore in a bustling city like Rome or Bangkok, and then slipping into your purified sanctuary of ultra-clean air and hypoallergenic bedding. For guests who suffer from allergies, have mild respiratory issues such as asthma, or who simply desire a respite from the air quality in many cities, these staterooms will become a haven of fresh air – for no additional cost.”

Guests staying in a Deluxe PURE Stateroom can expect:

  • Relief from allergies and mild respiratory issues – including coughing, sneezing, sniffling and watery eyes. Crystal’s PURE process exceeds both allergy and asthma community recommendations.
  • More sound sleep – so you’ll wake up feeling refreshed!
  • Breathing of ultra-fresh, clean air – enhancing the relaxation and recuperation people expect from their vacation!
  • No chemicals or odours – PURE’s cleaning solutions are invisible to the eye, smell and touch!
