Crystal Cruises’ Serenity to receive an “Extreme Makeover”

0

Crystal Serenity will undergo a US$17-million redesign in November 2013.

The company will give Serenity a makeover, updating her Crystal and Lido decks. The popular indoor/outdoor Trident Grill, Tastes restaurant and Lido cafe will all receive facelifts.

Crystal Symphony had great success with its “living wall”, as such the cruise line will expand the concept to Serenity’s Lido area too.

In addition, the ship will receive maintenance, cleaning, mechanical and environmental upgrades.

The ship will be dry-docked at the Navantia Shipyard in Cádiz, Spain during the makeover, which is scheduled for November 2013.

Crystal President Gregg Michel has spoken about the company’s “extreme” upgrades, and how they have been received by guests so far:

“Our redesigns aren’t merely new fabrics and soft goods.”

“It is indeed extreme when you take out pools, tear down walls and completely re-invent spaces to create new chic, contemporary, and exceptionally welcoming and comfortable public areas and accommodations.“

“While we are honoured we have won respected design awards for our remodels, we are even more gratified by the response from our guests, international travellers who have an eye for style and appreciate fine design in their lifestyle and when they vacation.”

Crystal will have spent a total of US$52 million on Serenity’s “Extreme Makeover” in the past two years.  Almost US$120 million has been spent on the fleets’ “Extreme Makeovers” in recent years.

Post-dry dock, Serenity will undertake a 12-day cruise from Lisbon to Barcelona, where she’ll sail through the Canary Islands.  This sailing will depart on the 27th of November.

The ship will then make a transatlantic crossing to the Americas, a Christmas and New Year’s voyage in the Caribbean and then she’ll sail the annual World Cruise, an 89 day luxury adventure from Los Angeles to London, which departs on the 18th of January.
