Celebrity Solstice coming to Australia in December

2

Back in 2011, Celebrity Cruises told the Sydney Opera House to “get ready for some company” as “another thing of beauty” will be sharing Sydney Harbour in December 2012.  Of course, they were referring to their Solstice ship, which will be visiting Australia for the first time later this year, after spending this summer in the Mediterranean.

The ship will sail up to Australia via the Suez Canal and through Southeast Asia before landing in Sydney.

Last year, Dan Hanrahan, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises said that by sending Solstice to Australia, the company are “delivering another way for people to have the best vacation experience possible, in one of the most stunning geographic regions of the world”.

Sample Itinerary:

When looking through Solstice’s cruise offerings, the 11 night Queensland Cruise caught my eye – after departing from Sydney Harbour, you’ll spend two days at sea on the ship before visiting Yorkeys Knob, a beach suburb of Cairns.  Swimming, surfing, walking, picnicking, kitesurfing, windsurfing and exploring seem to be the order of the day here!

The following three days see visits to Port Douglas, Willis Island and Airlie Beach before spending a further day at sea.  A day docking at Brisbane is then followed by a further day at sea before the ship docks in Sydney for two days.  You’ll be able to explore Australia’s most populous city: there’s plenty to do, see and explore!

Onboard Celebrity Solstice:

While at sea you’ll find there are plenty of onboard activities to keep you (and the family) entertained.  During the 2012/13 winter season, there are plenty of new activities that will make their debut too:  the onboard talks by local cultural entertainers and speakers look fascinating, plus there’s the opportunity to sample regional food delicacies.  Yum!

About Celebrity Solstice:

This amazing super-liner has plenty of innovative and lavish features which offers travellers the most modern and luxurious way to see the world!  One of the ship’s most unique features is the half-acre of real grass that forms the Solstice’s “Lawn Club”, a place where you can sit back and enjoy the country club atmosphere!  The famed AquaSpa offers the most wonderful treatments for those seeking a bit of relaxation – and you can even learn a new hobby onboard, as Solstice hosts the regions’ first ever glass blowing studio at sea!

2013 − 2014 Seasons:

This just in: Celebrity has recently announced that Solstice will be based in Sydney for a second consecutive cruise season, over for summer 2013 and into 2014.

Holidayers will be able to enjoy the following new itineraries:

  • A 35-night circumnavigation cruise of Australia and New Zealand, departing from Auckland in February 2014 and ending in Sydney in March 2014.
  • Two Pacific Island cruises roundtrip from Sydney in October 2013 and April 2014, featuring stops in Fiji, the Loyalty Islands and New Caledonia.
  • A 3-night weekend sampler cruise.

      Hi Linda,

Thanks for your question, the Solstice sailings are ideal for what you are wanting to do, as they sail from Sydney to Auckland or vice versa. This way you can sat in Auckland and Sydney either end of the cruise. Princess Cruises also do a similar itinerary on the Diamond Princess.

      Hope this helps.
