Celebrity Reflection’s Maiden Voyage

0

Last Sunday, the newest and by far best equipped Solstice class ship Celebrity Reflection, carefully and with great elegance made her way out of the Meyer Werft shipyard at Papenburg in Germany. Travelling backwards at only 4 miles per hour, this majestic feat of engineering slowly made her way to cheers and thousands of camera flashes on her journey to the North Sea.

At 1047 feet long and 121 feet wide it took all of the skills of the tug crews and support teams to ensure she arrived for fitting out in pristine condition, not an easy task. Taking only 10 hours to cross the River Ems with all bridges and other items likely to cause a problem moved out of the way, she arrived safely at Emshaven in the Netherlands where she will undergo sea trials and final fitting out.

A large group of people stood on the shore to wave Reflection off – they had travelled hundreds of kilometres just to witness the scene of the greatest and probably the last of the Solstice class to be built.  Perhaps they were planning to book onto the liner when she starts her revenue earning service shortly?

Her first trip, however, will be a special ‘by invitation only’ preview sailing that will take place on the 12 October 2012. This first cruise will sail from Amsterdam and it is sure to be memorable for those lucky enough to be invited. The rest of us however will not have to wait much longer, as she enters service just one month later in November sailing to such places as Italy, Croatia and the Eastern Caribbean amongst others.

Celebration Reflection is in fact the fifth of the Solstice class. This makes her the eleventh ship in the Celebration fleet and one of a specialist group that ensures all who sail with them have a unique and extraordinary experience in a ship that is seen as the ultimate in design and innovation.

It is the renowned International Interior Design Association who have already said that she is the “new benchmark in cruise ship design”, no mean feat to have that accolade already.

Being able to cater for over 3,000 passengers, there will certainly be plenty of variety for all but with the focus on quality and luxury for everyone.

All the benefits of the Solstice class will be there plus a lot more additions. These will include such facilities as a deck area that can be hired for private use for guests staying in the Reflection and Signature Suites. The Aqua Class Suites will have spacious and breath taking views from 57 ft long balconies allowing the occupants to marvel at what each new day brings.

With new dining experiences such as the Porch Grill, superb relaxation and leisure areas that take advantage of the latest in technology there truly is something for all tastes. In addition, Reflection will be running Art classes to allow guests to learn or improve their inner artist!

The launch of the Celebrity Reflection was well worth the wait – make sure you book your journey right now!
