A fantastic fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation held onboard Celebrity Solstice

Recently, a charity fundraiser was held onboard Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice ship, in benefit of the McGrath Foundation.

This was a fantastic event to celebrate the work of the Foundation, whose aim is to place breast care nurses throughout different communities in Australia and to make sure that every family affected by breast cancer has access to a specialist nurse. The Foundation takes the name McGrath from its founder Jane McGrath, who started the charity and sadly died from breast cancer. Today, the Foundation is widely recognised as one of the leading breast cancer organisations in Australia and continues to do amazing work to raise awareness.

During the fundraiser onboard Solstice, the guests of the Foundation celebrated its important work on the lawn of the ship, and a fantastic evening was had by everyone involved.

In attendance at the fundraiser was the Chairman and co-founder of the McGrath Foundation, Glenn McGrath, alongside a range of other special guests who kept the guests entertained throughout. This included the finalist of the hit talent show ‘The Voice’, Darren Percival, and a guest MC Johanna Griggs. The 80 guests for the event were housed in Celebrity Solstice’s fantastic restaurant, Tuscan Grille.

Celebrity Cruises has a long history of being closely involved with charity work, and has raised money for research into breast cancer both onboard and off. This is an area of research particularly important for Celebrity Cruises, with each godmother of their ‘Solstice class’ ships a person who has experienced breast cancer.

‘We are delighted to extend our support into the southern hemisphere for the very first time onboard Celebrity Solstice, whose godmother is oceanographer, Professor Sharon L. Smith”

— Celebrity Cruises Australia managing director Gavin Smith.

During the fundraising event onboard Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Cruises put up an eight-night cruise to the Pacific Islands up for the special auction with the funds going towards the McGrath Foundation. Furthermore, the line donated a piece of art which had been created by the glass artisans of Corning Glass Museum.
