MSC Unveils Wellness Experience

With the sumptuous fine dining options, enticing poolside lounges and world class on-board entertainment, it can be difficult to stay on top of fitness regimes when cruising with MSC. Now, all that’s set to change, thanks to a brand concept called the Wellness Experience.

In conjunction with leading wellness company Technogym, the MSC team has developed a health conscious programme featuring active shore excursions, wholesome menus and personalised sports plans. It’s an industry first, and puts MSC at the forefront of healthy cruising.

Fitness gets personal

So how does it work? After booking a cruise, passengers will be invited to create a personalised Aspiration Finder. Developed by Technogym’s in-house research department, the online questionnaire creates bespoke plans for every passenger. As well as an exercise plan itinerary, passengers will also be offered a one-on-one appointment with the ship’s senior trainer. During the session, the fitness guru will use an advanced body scale analyser test to pinpoint the most effective workout strategies for individual body types.

An at-sea fitness hub

Once developed, passengers will have free reign on the ship’s swimming pools, gymnasium and other outdoor facilities. Not to mention access to a huge range of group exercise classes, including the hugely popular Technogym Group Cycle, as well as Bella Barre, Hula Fit, Tai Chi, Pilates and yoga.

MSC will also be debuting a handful of new shore excursions that shine the spotlight on calorie burning activities. Think hikes up Norway’s Mount Floiena, beach training in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, cycle tours of Copenhagen, a jogging ‘experience’ around Greece’s original Olympics site and triathlon training in Cozumel.

A deliciously healthy experience

Getting fit doesn’t mean compromising on taste, with MSC chefs developing a range of healthy eating options available in both the buffet and main restaurants. Wash it all down with a fresh new range of protein and energy drinks, available to purchase at the MSC Aurea Spa bar.

To make it easier than ever to stay in shape, Wellness Experience passengers will be treated to their very own exercise mat, sports attire and towel. A dedicated Technogym TV channel will be available on demand, plus a sports clothes laundry service to keep gym bunnies feeling fresh.

Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said, “The global wellness travel segment is projected to grow by nearly 10 per cent annually over the next five years as holidaymakers are increasingly seeking out ways to combine being active and healthy with their holiday.”
