Introducing 2015’s Latest Cruise Ship Comforts

0

Every year the cruise industry seems to evolve in leaps and bounds. And we’re pretty stoked to say that 2015 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years yet! Passengers setting sail on this year’s itineraries are set to enjoy a plethora of exciting new comforts that make the cruise experience bigger, better and more intelligent than ever before. So what’s on the cards for 2015? Let’s take a look…

 A social buzz

Princess@SeaLARGE

This year Princess Cruises has harnessed the power of social media and launched its very own in-house network. Dubbed Princess@Sea Messenger, the brand new mobile application allows passengers to stay connected throughout their cruise. From arranging sunset cocktails to planning group shore excursions, it’s set to make cruising more social than ever. As well as staying in touch will fellow guests users also have access to restaurant menus, activity schedules and personal account balances at their fingertips. Find it across the entire Princess fleet by the end of 2015!

Sensitive state rooms

Have you got sensitive skin? Are you prone to allergies? Or perhaps you’re just trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Whatever the case, Crystal Cruises has now introduced the first at-sea hypo-allergenic staterooms. Designed to help guests stay clean, serene and comfortable, the state rooms are a world first for the cruising industry. After undergoing a deep clean the rooms are subject to a “high ozone shock treatment” that eliminates dust, germs, odours and other particles. Guests also enjoy medical standard air purifiers, anti- allergen bed linen and squeaky-clean air conditioning units. At the moment there are just 100 available which are scattered across Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment!

Sweet dreams

Some cruise lines offer passengers seriously extravagant suite experiences but when it comes to the crème de la crème of slumbers, Silversea takes the crown. The line has teamed up with illustrious Italian linen house Pratesi to create a hotel inspired collection of bedding that offers guests the ultimate in at-sea indulgence. With sumptuously  soft sheets to tumble into every night you’ll never want to leave.

Virtual balconies

We’ve shouted out about these before but they’re so impressive that we definitely feel they deserve another mention. On Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas and the newly refurbished Voyager of the Seas inside cabin passengers can now recreate the pleasure of a balcony with its crystal clear floor to ceiling LED screens that project real-time views of the open ocean. There’s even a virtual rail to make the experience seem as tangible as possible. Beautiful!

Terrific toilets

Princess Cruises is known for its attention to detail but the toilets on-board the luxurious Diamond Princess take extravagance to a whole new level. Inspired by its Japanese itineraries the vessel’s toilets are futuristic contraptions that offer users a myriad of different functions. Forget the conventional dual flush option, these are equipped with a complex control panel!
