Princess Cruises has home-grown kitchen personality Curtis Stone. But when it comes to scoring the shining star of Australia’s blossoming culinary culture, P&O has exclusive access to the one and only Luke Mangan.

As the first Aussie chef to service up dishes on land, at sea, in air and on rail, Luke is in full swing celebration mode. And to mark his brand new partnership with Eastern and Oriental Express railways, he’s on the hunt for the next big thing in Australia’s ‘foodie’ revolution.

The missing ingredient… YOU!

Together with P&O Cruises, Tourism Australia, P&O Cruises and Virgin Australia, Luke will track down a ‘Culinary Experience Officer’ who’ll be given the opportunity to work side by side the iconic restaurateur.

“Myself and the team are in a unique position to showcase our country’s amazing produce and ingredients to tens of thousands of people that experience my restaurants, Virgin Australia flights, P&O cruises, Hilton Hotels, Tourism Australia events, and now Eastern and Oriental Express trains,” said Luke.

Serving up a storm across the international ‘Luke Mangan’ dynasty, the CEO will take to the seas, the skies and the train tracks. They’ll help develop content across Luke’s nationwide restaurant portfolio, tasting, travelling and experimenting as they go. For foodies, it’s a one in a lifetime smorgasbord of experiences.

Finding the crème de la crème of culinary stars

The hunt kicks off with three preliminary stages designed to narrow down Australia’s up and coming line-up of culinary legends.

  • Stage One will see Tourism Australia find the country’s best bartender, judged on the creation of an utterly unique Australian beverage.
  • In conjunction with P&O Cruises Australia, Stage Two will uncover Australia’s most creative, innovation driven home cook. Dishes will be served to diners at Mangan’s quartet of Salt grill restaurants.
  • In Stage Three, Virgin Australia will shine the spotlight on the country’s finest artisan food producers, with products showcased on the airline’s exclusive Business Class menu.

“With our business firmly based on relationships,” said Luke, “this is truly an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to firmly mark their position within the food and wine sphere whilst having access to a group of premium brand partners who we are fortunate to work with on a daily basis.”

Once the three finalists have been selected, Mangan and a team of executives will personally cherry pick their favourite candidate. Entries close at midnight on April 15, so get in quick!
