After months of speculation, excitement and guesswork, Royal Caribbean’s ensemble of dedicated fans have finally been granted what they have long been waiting for – full details of the cruise line’s latest mega-ship, Harmony of the Seas.

Currently under construction in famed French shipyard, Saint-Nazaire, Harmony of the Seas looks set to be Royal Caribbean’s biggest and most exciting vessel since the arrival of Anthem of the Seas in February of this year. Weighing in at 227,000 tons and capable of carrying 5,479 passengers, the Oasis-class vessel is just eight months from its predicted completion date, and will make her maiden voyage in spring 2016.

Until now, excited passengers have been given little in the way of details about Royal Caribbean’s new mega ship – except the knowledge that it will be biggest cruise liner in the world. Now however, Royal Caribbean has finally gone public with further details of the ship, releasing the official brochure here.

New Features

Royal Caribbean have gone to great lengths to ensure Harmony of the Seas is unlike any other cruise ship at sea, adding a number of never-before-seen features to their latest mega-liner.

As well as technology innovations introduced to Quantum-class vessel, Anthem of the Seas, Harmony features several new entertainment venues – including The Attic, a new comedy club hosting top-class comedians. This new venue will be located in Harmony’s exclusive Entertainment Place neighbourhood.

In terms of dining, Royal Caribbean has increased its overall capacity on board Harmony of the Seas in order to adequately accommodate all of the ship’s 5,479 passengers. All guests can enjoy RC’s hugely successful multi-sensory dining experience, which takes place in a unique, two-storey restaurant.

Perhaps the most exciting feature aboard Harmony of the Seas however, is the new on-board waterpark, which features three water slides for younger guests.

Quantum Tech Meets Oasis-class

Unlike Royal Caribbean’s Quantum-class vessels, which contain all manner of tech wizardry, the cruise line’s Oasis-class ships are designed to offer the biggest, most entertaining cruise experience on the High Seas.

That said, Harmony of the Seas does benefit from a range of tech taken from the cruise line’s Quantum-class vessels – including robotic bartenders in the Bionic Bar, RFID or WOW Bands for easier on-board purchases, and a dedicated smartphone app that lets passengers book shore excursions and make reservations in any of the ship’s restaurants and dining areas.
