Australia’s Cruise Season Begins with a Bang

0

22nd September was an exciting day in the Sydney Cruise community, as Carnival Legend, Australia’s newest Cruise ship, started the cruise ship season off with a bang. With a flamboyant and exciting welcome into Sydney Harbour, Carnival Legend is exactly what it says it is, a Legend.  Weighing in at just over 88,500 tonnes it’s certainly a heavy hitter in the cruising world, and is set to be a big hit this year among cruise enthusiasts.

3,000 guests and crew joined in the celebrations as the Carnival Cruise lines ship  entered Sydney Harbour for the first time, and with the vessel set to bring a major boost to the local and national economy, Carnival Cruise had plenty of reasons to celebrate.

As the first international ship arrived in Australia for the 2015 season, there was a great sense of excitement among onlookers, and indeed within the general Cruising community itself.  It seems Australians are ready to hop on any one of the many ships coming into port this year, as the demand for Cruise holidays continues to increase. A total of 35 different ships will come floating into local waters during the 2015 cruise season, bringing hundreds of millions of dollars into the local economy.

Sydney will be seeing a lot of Carnival Legend throughout the next season. The ship will depart the harbour 22 times on different cruises, serving approximately 55,000 Australian families.

If it’s not the awe-inspiring Green Thunder water-slide keeping the family happy, it’ll probably be the Game Shows, the two-deck fitness centre, the jogging track or the sports court.
