Cunard Launches Historic Cruise Itineraries for 2017

Cunard Cruises, arguably the world’s most distinguished cruise line, has announced its 2017 World Voyages — adding five never-before-visited ports and a historic Amazon River cruise to its roster of scheduled sailings.

Celebrated as the line which helped develop modern cruising, Cunard has offered round-the-world cruises since the 1920s — visiting hundreds of countries and thousands of exotic destinations across the globe.

In 2017, Cunard’s luxurious ‘three queens’ — Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria — will call at some 80 ports in 42 countries across the globe, covering a total of 110,000 nautical miles between them in a single year.

Of the unforgettable World Voyages offered by Cunard in 2017, none are quite as significant as Queen Victoria’s scheduled Amazon River sailing. Upon disembarkation, Victoria will become the largest cruise vessel to ever sail the Amazon — the world’s largest river by discharge of water.

During the historic Amazon sailing, Queen Victoria will navigate 4,345 miles of meandering waterway on her way to the Atlantic Ocean, passing through Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil en-route. The river sailing is part of a 120-night Pacific Loop which incorporates South America, Australasia and the Panama Canal — calling at 39 ports in 25 countries, two of which it has never visited before.

Victoria’s fellow ‘Queen’ vessels, Mary 2 and Elizabeth, will also offer extraordinary round-the-world voyages in 2017, with Mary 2 undertaking a 120-night east-west sailing and Elizabeth providing a 120-night western circumnavigation from Asia to South Africa via the Panama Canal.

Angus Struthers, director of Cunard, said: “Having invented world cruising in 1922 and having since undertaken more world cruises – carrying more passengers around the world – than any other company, Cunard’s world cruise experience is simply unparalleled.

“If you choose to sail the world on a Cunard ship, not only will you visit great ports but you will enjoy the thrill of the warm welcomes and farewells that Cunard ships attract at every port. A World Cruise is an experience but making that World Cruise a Cunard experience is the stuff of legend!”

To offer greater flexibility to passengers, Cunard’s World Voyages can be taken in full or as part of a smaller, fly-cruise package. If you’re interested in booking a Cunard cruise, please click here.
